This website has been set up by a group of concerned psychiatrists and psychotherapists.
Their chief objections are:
· The unacceptable interference into their professional conduct by politicians, ICT and Health Insurance managers, by the creation of
· Diagnose Behandel Combinaties (Diagnosis Treatment Combinations); these lead to a fundamental decline of the services they offer;
· Restriction of the right of free choice of therapist / treatment
· The growing collapse of the medical code (and therefore the abolishment of the confidential nature of the doctor- patient relationship, by which an opportunity has been born for further abuse of personal records). This leads to:
· Attack of the constitutional right to protection of private records.
Government and Health Insurance Providers, as well as ICT-companies, collaborate to digitalize and computerize the Mental Health System.
Owing to this, the New Health System doesn’t only threaten the (psycho-) privacy of citizens, but marginalizes the medical private code and autonomy of patient and professional (see also State therapy). It’s no longer the professional who, in collaboration with the patient decides which treatment is most suitable. Government and the Health Insurance Providers are now slowly taking over these responsibilities.
The two sole arguments thereby are: reduction of cost and increase of profit.
The State calls this Transparency.
In their attempt to arrive at these goals, standard treatments are implemented, while simultaneously advanced digitalization of personal data, supplies State and Health Insurance an unlimited exposure of your personal records.
As from Januari 1st 2008, the Mental Health Care (psychotherapy en psychiatry) is transferred from the AWBZ to the Primary Insurance. Visioning the desired transparency and cost savings of Health Care, the DBC, short for Diagnosis Behandel Combinaties has been introduced. In the DBC, a DSM-classification is linked to a formal treatment, which is related to this specific classification. This has lead to an unacceptable violation of the therapeutic relationship, and a decline of any to offer services within the Mental Health Care.
More of this can be read in State therapy.
Earlier, in 2004, a general measure brought the number of psychotherapy sessions back from 90 to 25. Those concerned are starting to notice the damaging results of this policymaking.
Who are we and what do we stand for?
For over more than four years, a group of extremely concerned psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, legal professionals, and interested laymen have been discussing these developments.
The State, the ICT-branch and The Health Insurance Branch not only tell full scale lies, but avoid direct answers to direct questions, create mist and obscurity and meanwhile carry on unrestrained, hereby legitimized by constantly compromising members of government, in both Eerste and Tweede Kamer.
We believe that the time has come that the Public should genuinely be enlightened on these issues.
By means of this website, we briefly try to explain the potential dangers of digitization in Mental Health Care in general, and in psychotherapy in particular. Alongside, we offer background information to those interested.
Your voice will be significant in the slowing down and adjusting of this, by political and commercial powers launched development.
For quite a while, professionals have been seriously concerned and many have protested against it. But they were not heard, belittled or either overruled. Meanwhile, the group of professionals is on the rise, rebelling against mentioned developments.
In September 2007 the Koepel Foundation of DBC-free practices was established. This Foundation actively coordinates the resistance against Government measures, which threaten the existence of established authentic psychotherapy.
There are, including you, million of citizens who’s privacy is threatened by these new Measures. Maybe not immediately, but certainly in the near future.
Since January 1st 2008, when psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care was transferred from the AWBZ to the Primary Insurance, all your diagnostic records have been linked to your National Insurance Number, and stored in de National Central Computer of the DBC-Information System, from which your data is distributed to various interested consumers.
It is of vital importance that you let your voice (Your Voice) be heard and that you stand up for your right to privacy, and the protection of your personal records.
